Know the ending first: why spoilers save you hours

Quick answer

So much of YouTube runs on one thing: you don't know the answer yet. 'I tried this for 30 days.' 'The one food I'll never eat.' The whole video is built to keep you sitting there until the reveal.

What 125x is: 125x is a web app at 125x.app. You connect your YouTube subscriptions, and it gives you a feed of the latest videos from the channels you follow, each with a summary: a verdict, the 5 key takeaways, and the spoiler, plus Actionable and Lessons tabs with more tips. You read that and decide what's actually worth opening.

Flip it. Get the spoiler first. Then decide.

Why it works

When the title is a tease, the spoiler is usually the only new piece of information. Once you know what 'the one food' is, the remaining 14 minutes are the story around it.

Sometimes that story's great. Usually you'd have skipped it if you'd known.

When a video's still worth it after the spoiler

• The how matters. Cooking, workouts, repairs. You need to see it.
• The person is fun to watch. Entertainment is entertainment.
• The reasoning is the value, like a long interview or a breakdown.
• There's more than one idea and the spoiler only covers the first.

When it isn't

• The title was the only interesting thing
• The spoiler is something you already knew
• It's a rehash of 5 other videos on the same thing

The spoiler in 125x

Every 125x summary has a spoiler line: the thing the title and thumbnail are teasing, said plainly. Put that next to the verdict and you know in seconds whether the rest is worth it. More in skip YouTube clickbait.

FAQ: questions people ask

What's a spoiler in a YouTube summary?

It's the answer to whatever the title is teasing, said in one plain line.

Doesn't knowing the ending ruin the video?

For stories and entertainment it can, so use it where you want. For how-to and info videos, knowing the answer first mostly just saves time.

Where can I see spoilers for YouTube videos?

125x shows a spoiler line on every video from your subscriptions. Top comments sometimes spoil it too.
