How to export Kindle highlights and notes
Quick answer
You highlighted 40 great lines in a book. They're useless if they stay locked on the Kindle. Here's every way to get them out.
What 125x is: 125x is a web app at 125x.app. You connect your YouTube subscriptions, and it gives you a feed of the latest videos from the channels you follow, each with a summary: a verdict, the 5 key takeaways, and the spoiler, plus Actionable and Lessons tabs with more tips. You read that and decide what's actually worth opening.
Open 125x1. See them all in a browser
Sign in at read.amazon.com/notebook with your Kindle account to see highlights and notes by book. Inside Kindle for Web, the Notebook icon shows the open book's highlights, notes and bookmarks (Amazon Help). People say this page covers books from the Kindle store, and personal documents may be missing.
2. Export notebook from the Kindle app
In the Kindle app, open the book, open your notes, and use Share or Export Notebook to email yourself the highlights. Export and share for notes need Whispersync turned on, which is the default (Amazon Help).
3. My Clippings file
On an e-reader, highlights are also saved to a file called My Clippings in the documents folder, which you can copy off over USB. Handy for personal documents.
4. Kindle Scribe sharing
Kindle Scribe can share annotations and notebooks by email, with a download link that expires after 7 days (Amazon Help).
5. Sync with Readwise
Readwise imports Kindle highlights and can send them on to Notion, Obsidian and other apps. Its docs note Kindle syncs with Readwise a few times a day (Readwise docs). Full walkthrough: Kindle highlights into Notion or Obsidian.
Our tip
Exporting isn't the goal. Once a book's highlights are out, pick the 3 that change something and write what you'll do. See turn book takeaways into action.
